The railyard in Hodgkins, IL is a fascinating place. There are trailers everywhere, all lined up in neat rows and waiting to be hooked up to a tractor or loaded on a train and taken to their next destination.
Some trailers are pulled in by tractors and some come on long trains.
Trucks going into and out of the yard are scanned and drivers must check in and out at computer kiosks.
In order to lift trailers on and off of the train carts, large loaders with cranes are used. A loader is rolled over the trailer and the crane lifts it to or from the train. It’s pretty amazing to watch and I enjoyed our trip there this weekend.
Until next time, readers, drive safely 🙂
